Curriculum

In 2024, Plan A(cting) is offering a one week-long Plan A(cting) Youth Camp for teens ages 13 - 18.

Scene Study I / II:
  • How to break down a scene
  • How to find transitions in a scene to avoid "flat reading”
  • How to follow action descriptions in a scene
  • How to find the subtext in a scene’s dialogue, so you can really understand what your character is saying
  • How to listen to your scene partner: acting is the art of listening
Auditioning Technique:
  • How to set up your self-tape auditions: framing, lighting, sound
  • How to edit and upload your auditions
  • How to do a standard slate
  • How to do a “personality slate”
  • How to apply your scene study knowledge to your auditions
  • How to leave your homework behind so you always stay natural in your work!

Movement / Improv:
  • How to fully embody every character you play
  • How to commit to your characters from head to toe
  • How to feel freer in your physicality
Business of Acting:
  • How to sign up for casting websites and self-submit
  • How to properly format your acting resume (every camper will have a resume before they leave!)
  • How to create a reel
  • How to find acting classes for consistent training after camp
  • How to find a good photographer and understanding the importance of a great headshot
  • How to create a Coogan Account and understanding work permits
  • How to find the right representation for you, and understanding the difference between an agent / manager
  • How (and when) to join SAG-AFTRA
  • How to approach a job once you book
  • How to manage your professional online presence (social media, website, etc)
  • How to navigate the new “pilot season"
